António Coimbra de Matos, psychiatrist and child psychiatrist, the biggest name in Psychoanalysis in Portugal.
Founder of the Portuguese Association of Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.
Owner of his own, unusual and rebellious, deeply humanistic thought, he developed in Portugal a modern Psychoanalysis, the result of years of study and investigation on mental illness, in particular depression. He believed that the foundation of the analytical success was the relationship. He had the gift of speech and writing and made himself understood by everyone. With great generosity, he always taught everything he knew to generations of analysts and said that it was from his patients that he learned.
We have lost a Great Psychiatrist and Psychoanalyst.
